Christian Ingram is beginning to wind down his recruitment and Kentucky is fully in the mix

On Monday, Ingram announced that he is down to five finalists: Kentucky, Michigan, Georgia, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt. The 6-foot-6, 280-pound defensive lineman will officially visit all five programs between now and the end of November. The Wildcats will receive the first one later this month when Ingram comes to Lexington for UK’s home game at Kroger Field against Auburn.

  • Kentucky: Oct. 26
  • Michigan: Nov. 2
  • Georgia: Nov. 16
  • South Carolina: Nov. 23
  • Vanderbilt: Nov. 30

Ingram, a native of Georgia, is a three-star class of 2025 prospect considered the No. 905 overall high school senior in the country by the On3 Industry Ranking. Kentucky currently has 18 commits locked in for the 2025 cycle, a group that ranks 23rd in the country and 12th in the SEC.

Ingram has seemingly blown up out of nowhere over the last six weeks. It started with an offer from the home state Georgia Bulldogs in early September. UK got involved soon after. His recruitment has soared since then with offers from plenty of big-name schools. Along with the programs in Ingram’s top five, he’s also announced scholarships from the likes of Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, and Colorado.

“The communication [with Kentucky] has been good. I’ve been talking to them almost every day,” Ingram told Jacob Polacheck of KSR+ last week. “Their pitch has been about their development process, how well they can develop players, and how they see me being a Deone Walker type of [defensive] lineman. They’ve said I can replace him when he leaves and possibly be even better. They see that I have good footwork and can move just as well as him. They feel like they can develop me to be a great defensive lineman.”

Ingram is being recruited primarily by defensive line coach Anwar Stewart. He’s expected to take his official visits and then commit and sign in December. Kentucky is in a good spot going into his official visit schedule.

LSU offers EDGE Cedric Works

On a slightly different recruiting note, one of Kentucky’s current 2025 commits, Cedric Works, pulled in an offer from LSU over the weekend. Now playing at Frederick Douglass in Lexington, Works is considered the Wildcats’ top incoming recruit. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound EDGE is a four-star prospect and ranks as the No. 148 overall high school senior in the country.

Works, who is originally from Ohio, has been committed to UK since late June. Associate head coach Vince Marrow is his lead recruiter and he transferred close to campus for his senior season. That being said, him announcing an LSU offer is still notable. Whether or not he takes a visit to Baton Rouge will determine how much mutual interest there is between the two sides.
