Kentucky is currently projected as a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament, the DI Men’s Basketball Committee announced in the official March Madness bracket preview show on Saturday. Revealing the top 16 seeds as things stand just four weeks from Selection Sunday, the Wildcats were the No. 10 overall team in the field, heading out West.

Three SEC teams were listed among the No. 1 seeds with Duke making up the fourth, Kentucky picking up wins over two of the four and five wins overall against the top six. The Wildcats give the SEC six teams in the top 10.

“We think we’ve got them in the right spot. Kentucky had great wins,” Bubba Cunningham, UNC AD and Selection Chair of this year’s NCAA DI Men’s Basketball Committee, said. “They’ve beaten Duke, they’ve beaten Florida and beaten Tennessee twice — but they did have injuries in the middle.”

Take a look at the complete list:

  1. Auburn (South)
  2. Alabama (Midwest)
  3. Duke (East)
  4. Florida (West)
  5. Tennessee (East)
  6. Texas A&M (South)
  7. Purdue (Midwest)
  8. Houston (West)

Kentucky’s path would lead them to San Francisco with a potential Sweet 16 battle vs. No. 2 seed Houston on the line, followed by a rematch vs. No. 1 seed Florida in the Elite Eight for a spot in the Final Four.

How do you feel about the reveal, BBN? Does the Bay Area as a No. 3 seed work?
