We’ll find out Kentucky’s standing in the AP and Coaches Polls around lunch. In the NCAA’s NET Rankings, the Cats are on the cusp of the top 15. Kentucky is No. 16 in the NET after the loss to LSU and win over Georgia. That’s down one spot from last Monday. In the SEC, LSU (No. 4), Auburn (No. 6), and Tennessee (No. 11) are ranked higher. Kansas, the Cats’ opponent in the Big 12/SEC Challenge, is No. 9.

Before we dive into Kentucky’s team sheet and what’s up for grabs this week, here’s a look at the current NET Top 25.

NET changes for the 2021-22 season

This is the fourth season the NCAA has used the NET Rankings as its primary metric to evaluate the strength of teams’ wins and losses. This year, the formula has been tweaked. From now on, the NET will only use two components, adjusted net efficiency rating and Team Value Index (TVI), which is a result-based feature that rewards teams for beating quality opponents, particularly away from home. Win percentage, adjusted win percentage, and scoring margin are no longer used in the NET rankings.

Kentucky’s Team Sheet

Kentucky is now 12-3 on the season and 1-2 in Quad 1 games. The loss to LSU would have been great for the resume, but the Cats have nine more Quad 1 opportunities remaining, one on Saturday vs. Tennessee. Tomorrow night’s game vs. Vanderbilt was in Quad 1 briefly last week, but the Commodores’ loss to South Carolina bumped their NET ranking down to 79; as a result, tomorrow’s game is now in Quad 2. Of course, that can change as the season goes on.
