Kentucky Not Expected to Be the Landing Spot for 2024 Center Julius Halaifonua

Kentucky had its eyes on a 2024 reclass center for its final roster spot ahead of the 2024-25 season. Now, they’re expected to move in a different direction.
Julius Halaifonua, a 7-foot center from the NBA Global Academy (Auckland, New Zealand) is not expected to commit to Kentucky, a source tells KSR+. Schools in the mix include North Carolina and Georgetown.

Halaifonua recently reclassified from 2025 into the 2024 class. Kentucky reached out to the people who handle his recruitment after watching him at the NBA Academy Games in Atlanta during the July live period.
Since moving to the 2024 class, Halaifonua has been ranked by On3 as the No. 60 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. He is ranked as the No. 11 overall center in the class.
