The Kentucky offense is reeling heading into November. The Wildcats have scored only six offensive touchdowns in six SEC games and rank No. 123 nationally in yards per play. Only four power conference teams rank lower than that. Bush Hamdan‘s first offense in Lexington is averaging under 20 points per game. If that holds, it will be the lowest output of the Mark Stoops era.

There is a lot wrong with the Kentucky offense. On Wednesday, another disturbing stat was published. The Wildcats have massive issues scoring after halftime.

It is worth pointing out that the Week 1 contest against Southern Miss was called early due to inclement weather so this team has not played in eight full games. In those games, Kentucky has scored 153 points in the first half, and only 60 points have come after halftime. The Wildcats have scored 30 points in eight third quarters and 30 points in eight fourth quarters. That is the worst mark in college football.

The 123 first half points ranks middle of the pack, but the 60 second half points are just ahead of Southern Miss, Akron, Houston, and Kennesaw State. Those are not teams you want to be associated with in 2024. With top-10 defenses Tennessee and Texas remaining on the schedule, there might not be many scoring opportunities for Kentucky in any half moving forward.

Kentucky has an explosive play problem. Kentucky also has a finishing drives problem. The passing game is again one of the worst in college football. Hamdan’s unit has a ton to fix with only four games remaining. An FCS opponent still remains but the remaining SEC games figure to be very difficult for a sputtering offensive operation.
