Kentucky offers 2025 SG Meleek Thomas
John Calipari is making moves with the 2025 class. According to Andrew Slater, Kentucky offered five-star shooting guard Meleek Thomas, the No. 4 player in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting companies. On3 ranks the 6-foot-3, 165-pound prospect from Lincoln Park (Pittsburgh) as the No. 1 shooting guard, the No. 1 player in Pennsylvania, and the No. 3 overall prospect.
Calipari, Orlando Antigua, and Chin Coleman watched Thomas play at the first EYBL session of the year in Atlanta last weekend, where he averaged 14.5 points and shot 36.4% from three for the 4-0 New Heights Lightning team. Duke also extended an offer to Thomas following the event, joining Michigan, UConn, Villanova, Xavier, Penn State, Pitt, Indiana, Kansas State, Missouri, and St. John’s as schools that have offered him thus far.
Even though he’s just a sophomore, Thomas told On3’s Jamie Shaw that being recruited by John Calipari is a sign he’s doing something right.
“They talk to my coach a lot. I mean, Coach (John) Calipari goes after the best of the best. So for him to go after me and show me love all the time and come out to my games is big. It shows me that they want me there. They have a great program there. They bring in elite players and have a lot of players who are similar to my game style.”
Meleek Thomas looking to visit Kentucky soon
Just over a week ago, Thomas told KSR+ that he is planning to visit Kentucky this summer. So far, he’s taken visits to Villanova, Pittsburgh, and Indiana. Even before getting an offer, he said several things about Kentucky appeal to him.
“The coaches, the play style, the pro-environment, the player history, and how they recruit,” he said.
“I want to play for a coach that is going to coach me hard,” Thomas told On3 last weekend. “Somebody that will get on me because he wants me to be the best version of me. I want to have the support, people with me all the time, and access to the gym so we can stay working.

“When I go on these visits, I’m looking to build connections. When you build these connections, and everyone on the team is locked in, that is a national championship team.”
Meleek Thomas’ game
Thomas recently helped lead his high school team to a Pennsylvania Class 4A state title, averaging nearly 25 points per game. He also reached 1,000 career points as a sophomore and participated in the USA Basketball Junior Team minicamp earlier this month. In Atlanta, Thomas said playing up in age has helped him develop his game more quickly.
“I’m already a three-level scorer, but I’m seeing my teammates better when they’re cutting for the ball,” Thomas told On3. “I’m getting to my spots better and scoring easier now. Playing 17u only makes me better. These guys are all going to college next year, so playing up against them improves my game. I take a lot of pieces from a lot of guys in the league. Like Steph Curry for his off-ball movement, LeBron (James) with how dominant he is, and Chris Paul for his point guard skills.”
Thomas joins PG Darius Acuff, five-star SF Koa Peat, and five-star G Darryn Peterson as prospects Kentucky has offered in the 2025 class. Interestingly enough, Thomas, Peat, and Peterson have talked about playing together at the next level. Something to keep an eye on…
