Kentucky offers 4-star '24 RB Peyton Lewis + other recruiting notes
Kentucky football’s recruiting efforts continue to ramp up.
On Monday night, Peyton Lewis, a four-star class of 2024 running back out of Salem, VA, announced on social media that he earned an offer from the Kentucky Wildcats. This offer is the 30th from a Divison I school for the 6-foot-1, 190-pounder, which came from first-year running backs coach Jay Boulware.
According to the On3 Consensus, Lewis is considered the No. 254 overall prospect in the ’24 class.
Along with Kentucky, the likes of Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, South Carolina, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin, along with many others, have all offered the talented ball carrier. So far in the year 2023, Lewis has taken visits to Virginia Tech, Virginia, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee, Penn State, and James Madison. The in-state Hokies have the early advantage, per On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, recently taking a visit to Blacksburg just two weeks ago. South Carolina and Tennessee also loom as potential frontrunners.
During his junior season at Salem High School, Lewis rushed for nearly 1,600 yards and 17 touchdowns, earning a spot on the Virginia Class 4A All-State First-Team as a running back and kick returner. He also doubles as a star track runner. Kentucky is admittedly getting in late on Lewis, but Coach Boulware has been aggressively attacking the recruiting trail since his hire in December.
The next step will be getting Lewis to Lexington for a visit.
More recruiting nuggets
- 6-foot-5, 220-pound class of 2025 tight end, Blake Bryce, posted on social media that he’s taking three unofficial visits over the next week. He’ll make two stops on Saturday to Louisville and Kentucky, with the former having extended him his first Division I offer. Two days later on Monday, he’ll go check out Cincinnati. Bryce plays his high school ball at Newbury Park in California, so it makes sense that he’d hit schools in close proximity at the same time. Along with UL, he holds offers from BYU, Colorado State, and Nevada. He’s also taken visits to Utah and Arizona in recent weeks. Kentucky has yet to extend a scholarship of its own, but Bryce told KSR on Tuesday that the contact between both sides has grown “heavily” as of late. If all goes well on the visit, it wouldn’t be a shock to see him leave town with an offer.
- Although he’s just finishing up his freshman year of high school, Tyreek King is quickly blowing up on the recruiting trail. A 6-foot, 165-pound class of 2026 athlete out of Knoxville, TN, Kentucky wide receivers coach Scott Woodward offered King on Tuesday, adding to his growing list. Tennessee, Ole Miss, and Arkansas all extended scholarships last month, joining a group that already included EKU and Tulane.
