Kentucky offers Rhode Island DB transfer Antonio Carter
Add a new name to the list of potential transfer portal options.
On Monday night, former Rhode Island defensive back Antonio Carter announced through social media that he has received an offer from the Kentucky coaching staff. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Orlando, FL entered his name into the portal on April 16 and has since picked up nine Divison I offers.
In 2022, Carter started all 11 games for Rhode Island, finishing fourth on the team in tackles with 60 in addition to 4.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, and 10 pass breakups. He spent three seasons with the Rams and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Carter played his high school football at Oak Ridge (FL), where he earned Second-Team All-Metro honors in 2018. He held offers from the likes of Wagner, Fordham, and Gardner-Webb before ultimately landing with Rhode Island. But after impressive redshirt freshman and redshirt sophomore seasons, Carter is in search of a bigger opportunity. He started in 10 of 11 games for the Rams in 2021, totaling 52 tackles, one sack, seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Along with Kentucky, Carter has received offers in the last 24 hours from the likes of West Virginia, Louisville, and Baylor, among others.
Carter becomes the third known transfer option for Kentucky as part of the second portal window, which runs from April 15 through April 30. Wyoming guard Emmanuel Pregnon also hauled in a Kentucky offer while Southern California offensive tackle Courtland Ford has already set up a visit to Lexington for some time this week.
