Recruiting for the 2024 class has not yet hit full stride, but Kentucky is already looking into the year 2025. Five-star small forward, Koa Peat, posted on Twitter that he received a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky.

Peat, a 6’7″ wing out of Gilbert, Arizona, is the consensus third-overall prospect in his class and the second-best at his position. Judging from his YouTube mixtapes, Peat is the real deal. The sophomore is averaging nearly 20 points and 10 rebounds per game and has the combination of size, poise, and explosiveness of someone older than 16 years old.

The way he described his game to ON3’s Jaime Shaw:

“I would say I’m a versatile wing. I could do everything; guard the one through five, play the one through five, and just be a good teammate. I’m unselfish and a good leader, and try to make sure my team and I are locked in and just playing hard. I watch a lot of the bigger guards, like Cade Cunningham and LeBron James, players that could play every position. I’ll watch scorers like Kobe Bryant and KD (Kevin Durant), just trying to take from everyone because, in the next-gen, you have to be versatile. You take from guards, take from bigs, just be able to play every position.”

He recently led his team to a second straight Arizona state championship, putting 35 points in the title game, and may have had the high school dunk of the year in a tournament just a few months back. He also helped Team USA win the gold medal at the 2022 U17 FIBA World Cup.

Peat is not a newcomer. He was touted as the best 14-year-old on the planet in 2021 and his stock has remained high ever since. There are a lot of things that could happen between now and the 2025 class. Heck, who knows if John Calipari will still be Kentucky’s head coach? But regardless, sign me up for Koa Peat. The dude looks legit.
