BOX SCORE: Kentucky goes ice cold in Madison Square Garden
Kentucky has a top-10 offense that had scored 90-plus points in seven games this season. Mark Pope‘s pace-and-space attack has been one of the best in the sport. That did not show up at this year’s CBS Sports Classic.
The Wildcats a season-low 65 points in 67 possessions and shot just 29.8 percent from the floor. The numbers get worse. Kentucky finished 4-of-22 (18.2%) from three-point range and shot only 7-of-23 on layup attempts. The 85-65 loss to unranked Ohio State was highlighted by numerous field goal droughts.
Otega Oweh led Kentucky with 21 points but 13 of those came from the charity stripe. Andrew Carr had 13 points on 3-of-9 shooting. Jaxson Robinson scored 10 points but needed 11 field goal attempts to get there. No one else reach double-digits. Lamont Butler finished the game shooting 1-of-7 from the field and Koby Brea had eight points on 3-of-9 shooting.
