Get your Grove on: We may have a date for Kentucky at Ole Miss

The 2024 SEC Football schedules will officially be unveiled next week, but dates are already leaking out. Yesterday, we found out that Georgia will come to Kroger Field to play Kentucky on September 14, the first time the series has been played in September since 1942. Two weeks later, it appears Kentucky will travel to Oxford to play Ole Miss.
The Ole Miss Alumni Association posted the Rebels’ 2024 schedule — complete with dates — online yesterday and according to them, the Cats vs. the Rebels is slated for September 28, which will also be Ole Miss’ homecoming. That means the Grove will be especially decked out, with alumni convening to remember the good ole days for hours under chandeliered tents.
While the dates leaked have not been confirmed, it might be a good idea to start looking up AirBnBs or hotel rooms in the area because rates will be astronomical, as will the covers at the bars on the square. If you want to experience Oxford, I’d get a lodging plan in place and if it’s non-refundable, have it pulled up when the official schedule drops next Wednesday night on the SEC Network.

The Ole Miss game is one of two marquee road trips on next year’s schedule, the other being Kentucky vs. Texas. Oxford or Austin is a popular question as we start making plans, and while the ideal answer is “Why not both,” that’s not exactly feasible for most. I experienced the Grove for the first time last fall and can testify that it lives up to the hype, even for an 11 a.m. kickoff. Not only did a ton of Kentucky fans make the trip, but Ole Miss fans were incredibly hospitable and the shrimp and grits at City Grocery did not disappoint. As the famous saying goes, we may not have won the game, but we did not lose the party. Looking forward to running it back on the final weekend of September.
Kentucky Football’s 2024 schedule (as we know it)
As mentioned, we already know who Kentucky will play next season, but next Wednesday night, we’ll find out the dates for all of the SEC games in a live special at 7 p.m. ET on the SEC Network. According to FBSchedules.com, the four non-conference games are locked in.
