Kentucky opens as massive underdog at home vs. Georgia
Georgia is going to be a huge favorite to beat Kentucky when the Bulldogs come to Lexington next weekend.
Following the Wildcats’ ugly, no-good 31-6 loss to unranked South Carolina on Saturday, the folks in Las Vegas aren’t big believers in a possible upset over the country’s top-ranked team. According to FanDuel, Kentucky is currently a 24.5-point underdog against No. 1 Georgia with the over-under set at 47.5. It should come as no surprise considering how UK looked against South Carolina — and we won’t be surprised if this line gets bet up close to 30 by the time kickoff rolls around.
Other sportsbooks such as ESPN Bet (-21) and DraftKings (-24) have Georgia as the overwhelming favorite against UK. ESPN’s Matchup Predictor doesn’t give Kentucky much of a chance either. The worldwide leader’s numbers predict a 92.4 percent chance of victory for the Bulldogs. Georgia is coming off a 48-3 win over Tennessee Tech.

Speaking of ESPN’s numbers, the Football Power Index was not a fan of Kentucky’s bad performance against South Carolina. The Wildcats dropped 27 spots in the FPI rankings all the way down to 55th. Even worse, Kentucky is given just a 26.2 percent chance to reach the six-win threshold by the end of the season. Oddly enough, UK still has a slim 0.3 percent chance to make the College Football Playoff, but it certainly feels like 0.0 percent right now.
Kentucky (1-1) will host Georgia (2-0) on Saturday, Sept. 14 at Kroger Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
