A day after falling short of the conference regular-season championship, UK's baseball team found out what the first step would be in the quest for a converence tournament crown. The Cats will open SEC tournament play at 10:30 Tuesday morning against the Rebels of Ole Miss. The Rebs are the nine-seed for the SEC tournament, which will be played in Hoover, AL. The Cats are the four-seed, and will be looking to make it further than the program-best fifth-place finishes in 2000 and 2008. Ole Miss knocked Kentucky out of the conference tourney in that 2008 season, the last time that UK made it to the SEC tournament. Kentucky took 2 of 3 from Ole Miss when the two hooked up in April, but will need another win over them to help strengthen a resume that will hopefully seem the all the way through to the NCAA tournament. Both teams are riding four-game losing streaks, but here's hoping that the Cats can end theirs and keep what has been an incredible season rolling through the conference tourney. Tuesday's game will be televised on Fox Sports South and broadcast on the UK IMG Radio Network. [UK Athletics - UK Opens SEC Tourney with Ole Miss Tuesday]
