Kentucky OT Courtland Ford Enters the Transfer Portal
He was once viewed as the missing piece of the Big Blue Wall. After two years and limited snaps in a Kentucky uniform, Courtland Ford is entering the transfer portal.
First reported by On3’s transfer portal maestro, Pete Nakos, Ford will be playing in his sixth college football season in 2025.
A three-star offensive tackle from Texas, he started his career at USC. As a redshirt freshman, he started in eight games at left tackle. The following season, that number shrunk to three starts thanks to injuries, a common theme throughout his career. Ford was squeezed out during the Lincoln Riley transition and found a soft landing spot in the portal at Kentucky.
Unfortunately, the stars never aligned for him to succeed in Lexington. He was projected to compete for the starting right tackle position in 2023. Jeremy Flax eventually beat him out for that spot. A big offseason could get him back on track, but injuries prevented that from happening. He missed all of spring practice with a wrist injury and those woes plagued him until the season began. Ford eventually got some run at the end of the year, but only a few snaps here and there.

Kentucky thought they hit a home run in the transfer portal when they landed Courtland Ford. Like almost everything on the offensive line as of late, things just didn’t work out for the Cats as we expected.
Kentucky Players in the Portal So Far
The transfer portal does not officially open until Monday, Dec. 9, but so far we know of three players who will be seeking out greener pastures this offseason.
- DL Keeshawn Silver
- DB Avery Stuart
- LS Walker Himebauch
- TE Tanner LeMaster
- OT Courtland Ford
