Kentucky Posts Respectable Finish in Rocco's Jello Shot Challenge

Kentucky made its College World Series debut in 2024, which means Big Blue Nation got to take its first swing at Rocco’s infamous Jello Shot Challenge.
The establishment located just outside of Charles Schwab Field in downtown Omaha cut its teeth as a pizzeria. It became a national phenomenon when they began a friendly competition between fanbases at the 2019 College World Series. It’s pretty simple. Every time a fan buys a nip of the alcoholic colloid, a tally gets added to the leaderboard.
LSU raised the bar in 2023, buying 68,888 Jello shots, a record that will be difficult to surpass. Nobody came close this year, but Kentucky fans brought their A-game in the program’s first trip to Omaha.
Big Blue Nation accounted for 6,969 Jello shots at Rocco, finishing third in the 2024 challenge, only behind the two teams that made it to the finals, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Rocco’s does not pocket every single dollar earned from this competition. For every $5 Jello shot, $1 is donated to food banks in the towns of each participating school, while .50 goes to Omaha’s local Heartland Food Bank. Last year Rocco’s donated $142,464 dollars to food banks across the country. This year was a record-breaking year for the competition.
