Despite Liam Coen’s name being mentioned for other offensive coordinator positions, the Kentucky play-caller continues to recruit.

Stone Saunders, a three-star class of 2025 quarterback who committed to UK in August, will be on campus this weekend for a visit. It’ll be his first time back in Lexington since visiting for the Kentucky-Alabama game in November. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound QB is ranked as the No. 363 overall high school junior by the On3 Industry Ranking.

Saunders will arrive at UK on Saturday and leave on Sunday.

As it stands, Saunders is currently the lone class of 2025 commit for the Wildcats. Kentucky is still open to adding a second quarterback to the 2025 class in addition to Saunders though. Coen plans to visit uncommitted class of 2025 four-star QB Ryan Montgomery next week, a source tells KSR.

The timing of Saunders’ visit this weekend is certainly notable, considering the question marks surrounding Coen and his connections to other job openings. However, Saunders’ visit to Lexington has been in the works for a while now. He’s credited his relationship with Coen as a major reason why he committed to Kentucky in the first place.

Saunders is coming off a terrific junior season at Harrisburg (PA) Bishop McDevitt. He helped lead his squad to a 14-1 overall record in 2023 that saw him throw for over 3,500 yards with 56 touchdowns to just five interceptions on a completion rate of 64.7 percent. He also rushed for another three scores. Saunders was tabbed as the Pennsylvania Football Writers’ 4A Co-Player of the Year for the second straight season.
