Kentucky ranked 13th in updated ESPN Power Rankings
Just keep winning, baby. With the AP and Coaches Polls expected to be released later on Sunday, ESPN went ahead and updated its weekly Power Rankings. And where does Kentucky (5-0) stand? Oh just comfortably at No. 13.
The Wildcats snuck out of Kroger Field on Saturday night with a 20-13 victory over the No. 10 Florida Gators, the first home win over UF since 1986–just a smooth nine years before I was even born. The atmosphere was unlike it’s ever been and it helped Kentucky secure a monster win.
ESPN agreed in the quality of the win, as well. The worldwide leader has been high on the ‘Cats since the team’s victory over Missouri in week two. But with a win over Florida under its belt, Kentucky isn’t some cinderella story anymore–UK might just be good.
Here’s what ESPN’s Shea Carlson wrote about Kentucky:
Another week and another close Kentucky Wildcats game that could’ve gone either way. But, for the Wildcats, they’ve gone only one way this season, and that way is wins. The Wildcats outscored Florida 13-3 in the second half to rally for a 20-13 win and hand their division rival another loss this season. Kentucky has LSU next week before a big matchup against Georgia in Athens on Oct. 16 for control of the SEC East.
