Kentucky ranked No. 20 in the College Football Coaches Poll
It’s the first week for the Amway Coaches Poll, and the Kentucky Wildcats have officially cracked the top-25. The Cats are listed as the No. 20 team in the nation.
That’s an improvement from the preseason poll, which saw Kentucky come in at No. 29 after receiving 73 total votes. Even though the team hasn’t actually played a game yet, the Cats were able to move up nine spots when the poll adjusted its rankings to exclude the teams that are not currently scheduled to compete this fall. Teams from the Big Ten and Pac-12 that were originally listed in the preseason poll are no longer ranked this week.
The SEC dominates the list, with six of the top ten teams competing in the conference. Kentucky is currently scheduled to play five of the top 25 teams. Louisville came in ahead of the Wildcats at No. 16.
