Kentucky ranked No. 3 in CBS Sports' latest college basketball rankings
Get ready to hear a lot of this over the next 24 hours: Kentucky has taken a leap in the rankings.
Over at CBS Sports, Gary Parrish updated his Top 25 And 1 daily college basketball rankings where he bumped the ‘Cats up six spots, moving UK from No. 9 to No. 3 following its recent 18-point drumming of Kansas on Saturday. Kentucky was Parrish’s biggest riser from a busy Saturday of hoops while Kansas, which dropped from No. 4 to No. 9, was the biggest faller.
“Kentucky is 7-4 in the first two quadrants with all four losses coming in Quadrant 1 games away from home. The Wildcats’ next game is Wednesday against Vanderbilt,” Parrish wrote.

Auburn (20-1) came in ranked No. 1 in the updated poll, where it has been for the last 19 days now. Between the Tigers and the ‘Cats at No. 2 is the Gonzaga Bulldogs (17-2). Rounding out the top five are UCLA (16-2) at No. 4 and Baylor (18-3) at No. 5. UK (17-4) is the only team in the top 10 with more than three losses.
The AP and Coaches Polls will come out on Monday, where Kentucky is sure to see a significant rise in those rankings, as well. UK was ranked No. 12 in the AP Poll and No. 13 in the Coaches Poll coming into this week, where the ‘Cats went 2-0 against Kansas and in overtime against Mississippi State.
