Kentucky reaches out to LSU transfer G Xavier Pinson
Exactly one year ago today, news surfaced of Kentucky reaching out to Missouri transfer guard Xavier Pinson.
Well, history just repeated itself. On Thursday night, Kentucky reached out to Pinson once again, who is now transferring out of LSU. The 6-foot-2 senior point guard announced his decision to transfer away from the Tigers on Thursday morning and has since heard from the likes of Michigan State, Xavier, and Arizona State, along with UK, according to The Mac Irvin Fire.
Despite transferring a year ago from Missouri to LSU, Pinson is expected to be granted another immediate eligibility waiver due to the recent firing of LSU head coach Will Wade. Pinson spent his first three college seasons with Mizzou before his one-season stop in Baton Rouge. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

During the 2021-22 season with LSU, Pinson started in 27 of 28 games he played in for the up-and-down Tigers, which were knocked out of the NCAA Tournament’s first round. He averaged 9.8 points, 4.8 assists, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.2 turnovers per outing on a shooting split of 36.5/24.2/80.2. Pinson’s 133 assists on the year were nearly 50 more than his previous season-high, although his 24.2 percent clip from 3-point range marked a career-low.
Pinson faced Kentucky twice a season ago, dropping 11 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals in a win before posting 26 points and eight rebounds on 12-13 shooting from the free-throw line in a loss. Additionally, he went 1-2 against UK during his time with Mizzou.
