Let the portal season begin.

Kentucky hasn’t even traveled to Nashville yet for the SEC Tournament, let alone tipped off postseason play, and the coaching staff is already preparing for 2023-24. The first confirmed contact among transfers has been made, with Harvard star Chris Ledlum hearing from the Wildcats shortly after entering the portal.

Kentucky is one of 16 total schools to reach out to the 6-foot-6, 225-pound forward, joining UCLA, Ohio State, Nebraska, Indiana, Maryland, Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Xavier, SMU, Marist, Vanderbilt and Butler.

Andrew Slater of Cerebro Sports broke the news of Kentucky’s interest.

Ledlum was a unanimous First-Team All-Ivy League selection this season, averaging 18.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per contest while shooting 47.3% from the field. He hit the 20-point mark ten times this season, along with two 30-point efforts. The standout forward recorded a career-high 35 points against Cornell on 12-17 shooting, 2-3 from three and 9-12 at the line to go with 13 rebounds and six steals.

Other single-game efforts of interest include a 17-point, nine-rebound performance at No. 4 Kansas, 27 points and 15 rebounds at Maine, 22 points and 13 rebounds at Princeton, 21 points and nine rebounds at Brown, 23 points and 10 rebounds vs. Columbia, 24 points and eight rebounds vs. Cornell and 30 points and nine rebounds vs. Loyola-Chicago.

A four-star, top-100 recruit out of high school, Ledlum originally chose Harvard over offers from Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh and Vanderbilt, among others. He was named 2019 Gatorade Massachusetts Player of the Year, helping Northfield Mount Hermon win the 2019 NEPSAC Championship while earning Championship Game MVP honors.

Now, Ledlum is looking for a new home to close out his time in college, and Kentucky is interested.
