Kentucky Reaches Out to Oklahoma Transfer Otega Oweh

Mark Pope is getting to work on the recruiting trail as Kentucky’s new head coach. Oklahoma transfer guard Otega Oweh told KSR+ that he has been contacted by Kentucky’s new head coach Mark Pope.
Oweh, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound combo guard averaged 11.4 points and 3.8 rebounds. He played in 32 games for Oklahoma as a sophomore in 2023-24. Oweh started in 28 games and averaged 24.8 minutes per contest.
Kentucky has some competition for this one as Oweh has already set two visits. He is set to visit Oregon on April 19 and Texas A&M on April 23.

Otega Oweh is the No. 68-rated transfer in the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings. He has two seasons of eligibility left.

Oweh struggled towards the end of the season, scoring less than 10 points in 10 of Oklahoma’s final 12 games. He scored double-digits in 17 of the first 20 games of the season, losing his starting spot to senior Rivaldo Soares down the stretch.
Kentucky’s interest comes on the heels of the news that Pope has reached out to Stanford guard Andrej Stojakovic.
“Kentucky is intentionally keeping the names of some of the Transfer Portal guys quiet initially,” KSR’s Matt Jones wrote on Twitter Tuesday. “There are 6 names I know they have made contact with and seriously engaging…3 in ESPN Top 25 portal rankings and 6 in Top 60 Kentucky is also actively involved with two incoming freshmen.
