Kentucky could use some depth at defensive tackle going into the 2024 season. Stephen F. Austin transfer Brandon Lane checks that box and then some.

On Friday, Lane was able to connect with members of the Wildcats’ coaching staff, he tells KSR, and says the current plan is to take a visit to Lexington next weekend.

Clocking in at 6-foot-3, 300 pounds, Lane started his college career at South Dakota State and spent two seasons with the Jackrabbits before transferring to SFA this past season. As a redshirt sophomore in 2023, he recorded 44 tackles, 6.5 TFLs, 1.5 sacks, one quarterback hit, and one fumble recovery across 11 games played.

Lane will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Kentucky isn’t the only school reaching out though. Considered one of the top available transfers from the FCS level, Lane has already picked up offers from the likes of California, West Virginia, Indiana, and New Mexico since announcing his intentions to transfer on April 14. Visits to Washington, Cal, and West Virginia are also on the docket for the native of Kansas City, MO.

On3 ranks Lane as the 528th-best transfer in the country and the 50th-best defensive lineman.
