As expected, your University of Kentucky Wildcats will not start the season as a ranked team. However, the Cats did pick up some votes in the Preseason AP College Football Poll.

Kentucky is the No. 40 team in the Preseason AP Poll with three points. That’s just behind Appalachian State (4 points) and ahead of Auburn (2 points). Nine SEC teams made the Top 25, led by Georgia at No. 1. The Bulldogs received 46 first-place votes. Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, and Alabama round out the top five.

Kentucky faces four teams in the Top 25 this season: Georgia (No. 1), Texas (No. 4), Ole Miss (No. 6), and Tennessee (No. 15). The Cats also face Louisville, the first team outside of the Top 25, and Auburn, which, as mentioned, received two points.
