Flashback Friday: Kentucky gets revenge vs. Robert Morris

Tonight, your University of Kentucky Wildcats will look to get back on track after the season-opening loss to Duke with a matchup vs. Robert Morris. This is the fourth meeting between the two schools, with Kentucky holding a 2-1 edge, 2-0 in Lexington. Of course, the most memorable game between the Cats and the Colonials is Kentucky’s 59-57 loss in the 2013 NIT. No one wants to relive that dreary day in Moon Township, Pa., so instead, let’s skip ahead a few months to November 17, 2013, when the Cats got revenge with an 87-49 victory in Rupp.
With the best recruiting class in school history coming in, Kentucky was ranked No. 1; however, the Cats were coming off a 78-74 loss to No. 2 Michigan State in the Champions Classic. As Kentucky will hopefully find out tonight, there’s no better medicine than a big win at home. For the 2013-14 team, that rang especially true considering the foe was the team that knocked Kentucky out of the NIT, one of the most embarrassing moments in the history of the program.

Calipari used an all-freshman starting lineup for the first time in school history vs. Robert Morris, and Aaron Harrison was the rookie to steal the spotlight. Harrison bounced back from a lackluster performance vs. Michigan State to score 28 points, 19 in the first half. He was 7-12 from the field and made all 10 of his free throws. His brother Andrew struggled, finishing with only eight points. It would have been 11 if Pat Adams didn’t call a walk on this circus halfcourt shot before halftime:
Other highlights from this game: Dominique Hawkins’ monster block, Julius Randle’s fourth-straight double-double, 13 rebounds from Willie Cauley-Stein, and a rowdy Rupp Arena crowd. Relive it all below.
