Kentucky running backs coach Jay Boulware teases possible commitments
Could Kentucky football have some #Yahtzees on the way?
On Sunday, Wildcats’ new running backs/special teams coach Jay Boulware sent out a pair of cryptic tweets that could indicate good news is on the way for the program. Kentucky is in the process of wrapping up its second big weekend of hosting official visitors, which saw plenty of high-profile class of 2024 recruits in Lexington over the last few days.
Boulware’s first tweet came at 10:39 a.m. EST with the caption “#BBN” and a “YESSIRR” gif. Shortly after at 12:18 p.m. EST, he sent out another tweet with the same gif and a caption that read “2 piece #BBN”.
Currently, Kentucky has just four commitments locked in for the class of 2024: four-star QB Cutter Boley, three-star IOL Aba Selm, three-star EDGE Antwan Smith, and three-star OT Hayes Johnson. But over the last two weeks, the program has hosted upwards of 20 official visitors, one of which was Smith, who announced his commitment to UK not long after his OV last weekend.
Boulware’s tweets certainly make it sound like more pledges will be on the way. Who should fans keep an eye on as we wait for potential news to pop? Considering Boulware is the one tweeting, there are a few different options to watch for.
In particular, two running backs high on Kentucky’s board finished their official visits with the Wildcats in recent days. The first is Sneads (FL) High three-star Jason Patterson, who left his OV in Lexington on Friday and told KSR that the ‘Cats were among his top two and that they were prioritizing him as a top running back target. The other is Fort Lauderdale (FL) DeMatha Catholic three-star Tovani Mizell, whose OV to Kentucky wrapped up on Sunday.

Patterson is considered the No. 521 overall rising senior in the country according to the On3 Industry Ranking while Mizell checks in at No. 491 overall.
The other candidate looming as a potential commit is on special teams, five-star K/P Jacob Kauwe, who took an official visit to Kentucky during the middle of the week and left with a full-ride scholarship offer. I logged an RPM pick in favor of Kauwe choosing the Wildcats soon after he left Lexington and headed back home to Montana.
Regardless of who it ends up being, expect Kentucky football to bolster its 2024 recruiting class sooner rather than later.
