Kentucky WBB serves food at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass

The Kentucky women’s basketball team has spent some time not only in the gym this summer, but also out serving the community. On Friday, the Cats (and former Cat Dazia Lawrence) went down to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass and prepared and served food to people.
By the looks of it, there are some pretty good bakers on this year’s squad.
In 1984, the Ronald McDonald House opened up in Lexington under the principle that “nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, get their next meal, do their laundry, or lay their head at night to rest. Guests calling our House their home away from home benefit from all of these services and moreover, stability in a time where life is anything but predictable.”
Additionally, the Ronald McDonald House serves upwards of 500 families per year. The Family Room programs provide respite for over 10,000 people annually, and with the introduction of Care Mobile, pediatric dental decay have dropped by nearly a quarter.

The team has been out and about doing community events with Kentuckians all summer. Recently, they even hung out with some Special Olympics athletes over at WinStar Farm. If this team is half as good at basketball as they are being leaders in the community, then this should be one special group.
