Kentucky WR Shamar Porter enters transfer portal
Kentucky needed to lose some scholarship players if some additions were going to be made in the spring transfer portal window. Another wide receiver hit the free agency wire on Monday as the Wildcats go under a drastic makeover in that room after hiring Daikiel Shorts Jr. in December.
Shamar Porter joined Raymond Cottrell and Ardell Banks on Monday becoming the third Kentucky receiver to enter the portal since the end of spring practice. The Wildcats have now seen five scholarship players leave the program this spring.

The Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth product was the highest-ranked recruit in Kentucky’s 2023 signing class. However, Porter never found a role in year one and got buried on the depth chart this spring. Back in December, the former four-star recruit entered the transfer portal only to ultimately withdraw his name. Now the former top-300 recruit is a free agent again.
Shamar Porter suffered an ankle injury during fall camp. Under new leadership on offense, Porter did not make a push for playing time while UAB transfer Fred Farrier II and early enrollee Hardley Gilmore IV carved out roles with the twos during spring practice.
Kentucky is now down to eight scholarship wide receivers on the roster.
