Kentucky WR Shamar Porter withdraws name from transfer portal
Former four-star recruit Shamar Porter entered the transfer portal on Monday. The Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth product was looking for a new home after taking a redshirt season during his first semester at the University of Kentucky.
That decision was reversed just a few days later. On Friday night, the class of 2023 signee took his name out of the transfer portal and will be returning to Kentucky for the 2024 college football season.
Shamar Porter (6-3, 205) was Kentucky’s highest-ranked signee in the 2023 recruiting cycle. The four-star prospect was the No. 285 overall player in the class and a top-five player in Tennessee. Porter will now return for year two in Lexington to play for a new wide receivers coach after Kentucky fired Scott Woodward after the regular season ended.

Add Ja’Mori Maclin to Kentucky’s visitor list
Shamar Porter’s return wasn’t the only wide receiver development for Kentucky on Friday night. The Wildcats were one of the first schools to start recruiting North Texas transfer Ja’Mari Maclin. A former high three-star recruit with two years of eligibility remaining has made it to Lexington.
Maclin has seen a ton of Power Five interest since entering the transfer portal after earning second-team all-conference honors in the American Athletic conference. The former Missouri transfer led North Texas in receptions (57), targets (100), receiving yards (1,004), and receiving touchdowns (11). Maclin is a true vertical deep threat who recorded 12 receptions for 507 yards and six touchdowns on passes of 20-plus air yards in 2023.
Wide receiver is a clear position of need for the Kentucky offense this offseason. The Wildcats are working quickly in the transfer portal to address needs. Stay locked in with KSR for more updates as an important recruiting weekend is underway.
