Kentucky Men's Soccer Rounds Out Regular Season Play Undefeated
After routing South Carolina with a victory of 3-0 on Tuesday night, Kentucky Men’s Soccer finished their regular season without a loss and clinched the title in the Sun Belt Conference along the way. The team made history for the program, going undefeated on the season for the first time in school history (11-0-5, 5-0-3 Sun Belt).
Not only did the team make history, but they also finished No. 2 in the country, per the United Soccer Coaches Top 25.
Shutout win over South Carolina
To close out the regular season, Kentucky was able to find a shutout win over South Carolina with the help of senior Nick Gutmann, who tallied three assists. On his first two assists, Gutmann made the connection with junior Enzo Mauriz, who found the back of the net and scored the first two goals for the ‘Cats.
Gutmann’s success with assists did not end there as he was able to find freshman and Lexington native, Max Miller. Th three-assists performance from Gutmann moved him into the top spot in the nation for assists by one player.
The team effort from Kentucky is what earned them their first Sun Belt Conference title and secured their No. 2 ranking in the nation.
