In Kentucky's first two meetings with Utah offense came at a premium as both teams used a one inning breakthrough to win their games in the series. It looked to be that way for today's game as both teams were scoreless heading into the fifth inning. Utah opened the game up with a three run top of the fifth and UK immediately responded with a solo home run. But the game of catch-up never allowed Kentucky to get back into the game. Everytime the Cats would close the gap, the Utes found a way to score and keep their lead alive. The softball team showed a ton of grit and fight to force the game 3 playoff but I imagine this game will leave the team wondering what might have been if just a few plays had gone differently. The softball team finishes with a record of 46-14 and the senior class does not advance to a super regional for the first time in their careers. That's an impressive feat for a group that laid the foundation to build an SEC contender. Great job ladies.
