At the half: Kentucky trails South Carolina 42-32

Well, I certainly didn’t expect this. After 20 minutes of play, Kentucky trails South Carolina 42-32. Yes, the same South Carolina team that is 7-8 on the season, 0-2 in SEC play, and just lost to Tennessee by 43 points in Columbia on Saturday.
Where do you even begin? It’s been a trainwreck so far. South Carolina jumped out to a 13-2 lead in the first four and a half minutes. At the 11:34 mark, they led 21-8. Yes. Kentucky only managed to score eight points in eight minutes of play. From there, things got slightly better. Oscar Tshiebwe sparked a mini-run to pull the Cats within four at the 5:27 mark, but South Carolina kept striking back. The Gamecocks are shooting 56.7% from the floor and 6-9 (66.7%) from three. Meechi Johnson is 4-5 from the outside and leads all scorers with 16 points.
Oscar Tshiebwe has 12 points and 8 rebounds so far to lead the Cats. Antonio Reeves has eight points. No other Wildcat has more than four. Cason Wallace has only played eight minutes before heading to the locker room. No details yet on why. CJ Fredrick (finger) is active tonight, while Jacob Toppin (shoulder) is not.
