Many people are asking, “Is Kentucky a football school?” The jury is still out, but I can definitively tell you that Mark Stoops’ team will soon be returning to the gridiron for spring football practice.

Kentucky will be back on the practice field Monday morning for Spring Practice No. 3. The Wildcats got a couple of light practices in prior to spring break, where many players have enjoyed time on the beach, while Will Levis traveled abroad, vacationing in Rome. There will be three spring practices this week in preparation for the Blue-White Game, kicking off Saturday, April 9 at 1 pm ET on SECN+ at Kroger Field.

What You Missed at Kentucky Spring Football Practice

Typically the day after a UK NCAA Tournament loss is reserved for a lengthy “what you missed at spring practice” post, but this year the Wildcats lost too early. To be frank, not a whole lot has happened. A few of the high notes after just one week of practice:

  • Eli Cox has officially made the move from guard to center, while Kentucky is experimenting with Vito Tisdale at cornerback.
  • Rich Scangarello has made a few early tweaks to mesh with UK’s offense, and he’s altered a few of Levis’ fundamentals. The offensive coordinator is putting a focus on footwork and timing with QB1 this offseason.
  • The 3-4 defense is back. After primarily playing “medium” with one outside linebacker and a full-time nickel back, Kentucky is healthy at edge. Expect to see JJ Weaver and Jordan Wright on the field at the same time in the fall.
  • One starter at offensive tackle may not be on the roster right now, but he could be on campus Monday. Tyler Steen, a former three-year starter for Vanderbilt, is visiting campus next week. LSU and Alabama are the top competition for the highly-coveted transfer portal player that could set the edge of the Big Blue Wall.

Cats Warn Satterfield

Despite sucking the life out of the Louisville Cardinals in three straight meetings, the rivalry is alive and well. Scott Satterfield has lost two games by a combined score of 97-34. After wiping the tears from his eyes at the sight of an Ls Down, he fired off this shot at John Calipari’s squad on social media.

Who does this guy think he is? Satterfield gets a couple commitments from California kids and all of a sudden he’s Jimmy Johnson. Of course, his shot at Kentucky did not go unnoticed. The Wildcats will certainly have this in mind when the Cards come to Kroger Field on November 27th.
