WATCH: Mark Stoops, Kentucky players discuss spring practice

On Saturday, Kentucky football completed practice No. 7 of the spring calendar. KSR was on the scene to ask some questions.
Mark Stoops, Will Levis, J.J. Weaver, and Keaton Upshaw each met with reporters to discuss where Kentucky stands after a couple weeks of practice. There is a lot to like, but it all starts with the basics for this program.
“Spring is fundamental — it’s being a good football player. That’s never going to change,” said Stoops. You just have to be good in your area and be very fundamental.
For Levis, the redshirt senior quarterback is happy to have Upshaw back in the lineup. The versatile tight end could cause some mismatch problems for defenses, but he’s a part of a passing game that must continue to grow.

“He’s shown flashes for sure,” Levis said about Upshaw. “Needs to get better at some things, but it’s the same stuff that’s been happening with all of our skills. Just understanding the new routes that we’ve put in and how they actually want them to run the route. Getting that feel down of how to feel windows and feel coverages around you and how they affect your specific stem and your specific route to get you in the best position to get open.
On defense, Weaver is happy to be healthy and thinks Kentucky’s front seven has a chance to be special. On Tuesday, Stoops will open practice to the media and KSR will be in attendance to see the strides the program has taken.
Stay tuned for those updates. But first, check out the interviews below.
