It doesn’t look like Mother Nature will stop the Cats from getting to Tuscaloosa. John Calipari said the team is still scheduled to leave Lexington today for tomorrow night’s game at Alabama. On Wednesday, Calipari told reporters and fans he was worried they wouldn’t be able to get out due to the ice storm until Saturday, which would have postponed the game to Sunday.
“We think so. At this point, we’ll be able to get out.”
Phew. When Kentucky arrives, they’ll be tasked with taking down an Alabama team that has a…unique resume. The Crimson Tide (14-8, 4-5 SEC) have beaten Gonzaga, Baylor, Tennessee, and LSU, but also lost at Missouri, Mississippi State, and Georgia. Calipari said that kind of inconsistency just means more preparation on his end.

“You’ve got to watch more tape. You’ve got to watch tape from when they didn’t play as well. Was it the other team or them? You’ve got to watch tape when they really play well, did they do something different? Or was the other team doing something that led them to play well? So you get bogged down in tape. And what you try not to do, I’m more concerned about what my team does than somebody else’s. And if they’re at their best and we’re at our best and they beat us, we move on to the next game.”
“At the end of the day, you’re on the road, they’ve beaten some of the top-ranked teams in the country. It’s going to be a really hard game for us to win. We know that.”
Fingers crossed for safe travels.
