Kentucky football recruiting target, Jalewis Solomon, a 2024 four-star athlete who will most likely play defensive back in college, announced on Saturday afternoon via Instagram Live that he will be attending the University of Auburn.

Kentucky made the top five for Solomon along with Florida State and Texas A&M, but the general consensus amongst the recruiting world was that it was a two-horse race between South Carolina and Auburn, with the Gamecocks in firm control of the reigns. However, Auburn snuck in at the last minute and snatched away the prized recruit, putting a screeching halt to the record that plays Sandstorm 24-7 in Columbia.

On the commitment, Solomon praised the Tigers’ new head coach, Hugh Freeze.

“I’d love to play for Coach (Hugh) Freeze, like why not? He kind of made a point when we were talking to him, he’s — whenever he beat ‘Bama in 2012 — it’s like, man, that’s different. He was saying that whenever I get here he’s going to make me a big impact for this team and I feel wanted here.”

Stoops and company rolled the dice, but no Yahtzee! this time.

In what could have been an incredible recruiting week for Kentucky football, it turned out to just be a really good one. While there was a swing and a miss when it came to Jason Patterson and Nigel Glover, the ‘Cats still landed huge recruits in the form of Steven Soles and Stone Sanders.
