Kentucky has its next offensive coordinator within sight.

According to ESPN insider Pete Thamel, the Wildcats are targeting Boise State offensive coordinator Bush Hamdan to take over the same position in Lexington. Hamdan, 37, was Boise State’s OC/quarterbacks coach for the 2023 season. His coaching career dates back to 2009.

Thamel reports that a deal is “expected to come together in the upcoming days.” Hamdan will replace former offensive coordiantor Liam Coen, who recently accepted the OC job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Hamdan played four seasons of college football at Boise State from 2004-08. A native of Kuwait, he got his coaching start in 2009 as a student assistant with Colorado. From there, he’s bounced all around the country, even making a brief pit stop in the NFL.

Hamdan has coached at Maryland (2010; OQC), Sacramento State (2011; TE), Florida (2012; WR), Arkansas State (2013; co-OC/QB), Davidson (2014; OC/QB), Washington (2015; OCQ and 2016; WR/PGC), the Atlanta Falcons (2017; QB), back to Washington (2018-19; OC/QB), and Missouri (2020-21; WR/QB and 2022; QB), before heading to his alma mater in Boise.

During the 2023 season, Boise State’s offense averaged 439.2 yards per game, which ranked 23rd nationally. The Broncos scored 31.4 points per game, which ranked 33rd.
