Kentucky to Host Heroes Day at Kroger Field for EKU Game
The second week of the Kentucky football season will serve as a salute to those who serve our nation. It’s Heroes Day at Kroger Field when EKU makes the short trip from Richmond to Lexington. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 pm EST on SECN+/ESPN+ (and here’s how you can watch it online).
This Saturday UK Athletics is offering specially-priced tickets to military, law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services and government employees to celebrate Heroes Day. Register here to claim your discounted tickets to watch Kentucky vs. EKU this Saturday.
There are a few other festivities lined up in this salute to service. New Kentucky long snapper Ron Gaines is a Chicago native whose two parents are police officers. His mother, Kenyatta Gaines, is known as the “Voice of the Chicago Police Department,” and she sings professionaly in a blues band, NuBlu. Mrs. Gaines will perform the National Anthem prior to kickoff.
Big Day for the Youths at Kroger Field
In addition to Heroes Day, children from all over Central Kentucky will be in the stands and on the field. Before the game the Kentucky cheerleaders will perform with kids in the area. Halftime the Kentucky Dance Team will take over with youth dance teams from around the Commonwealth.
