One of Kentucky's top high school targets will officially visit Louisville this week

Bluegrass native Tay Kinney is slowly beginning to schedule his summer official visits. He’ll take one later this week to Kentucky’s biggest rival.
On3’s Joe Tipton reported Tuesday that Kinney will take an official visit to Louisville this Thursday and Friday. Originally from Newport, KY, the 6-foot-2 guard is about to enter his second year with Overtime Elite, where he established himself as a national recruit during the 2024-25 season. Kinney is considered the No. 17 overall prospect from the class of 2026, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
So far, Kinney has taken just one official visit, which was to Purdue back in January. He’s also currently slated to visit Oregon in September. A trip to Kentucky is expected eventually, although one has not been publicly announced at this time. Kinney has already taken several unofficial visits to Lexington.
Of note, Kinney recently partnered with adidas, the same shoe brand used by Louisville.
Kentucky head coach Mark Pope, along with assistants Jason Hart and Cody Fueger, met with Kinney for an in-home visit back in April. The Wildcat coaching staff offered the talented point guard last August and has made him a priority recruit ever since. The likes of UConn, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Xavier, Texas, Kansas, North Carolina, Indiana, and more have also extended scholarships.

“They had a great year, you know. Made it to the Sweet Sixteen with all transfers,” Kinney recently told On3 about Kentucky. “You know, they got Jasper (Johnson) coming in. I like what he (Pope) did to that program. Jasper is on me every day, just saying, ‘Come to Kentucky. Come to Kentucky.’
“Coach Pope is really outgoing. He’s real funny, but he’s real cool though.”
Teammates with Johnson this past season at OTE, Kinney thrived alongside the incoming Kentucky freshman. Kinney averaged 20.1 points, five assists, four rebounds, and 2.3 steals per outing while shooting 55.6 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from long range. He’s coming off a trip to Italy over the weekend where he helped lead Team 3SSB Select to a championship win at the 2025 adidas Eurocamp.
