Kentucky Basketball defended Rupp Arena against Robert Morris in the Wildcats’ first unrestricted home game in over a year and a half. Rupp’s 2021-22 season opener welcomed the Colonials to Lexington from John Calipari’s hometown of Moon, Pennsylvania, for a meeting of old friends from the 2013 NIT Tournament. This one, however, ended more favorably for Kentucky, unlike that one NIT appearance of the Calipari era.

Enough about the past, though; this new Kentucky team showed off a high-scoring offense with 100 points in Friday night’s 100-60 victory. The win moved the Wildcats to .500 (1-1) on the brand new season with a solid bounce-back from Tuesday’s Champions Classic loss to Duke in Madison Square Garden.

With 100 points on the final scoreboard, there were several players who got buckets in their debut home game. Kellan Grady was the high-scorer with 19; followed by Oscar Tshiebwe (14), Daimion Collins (14), Davion Mintz (13), Keion Brooks (13), and TyTy Washington (10) joining Grady in double figures.

Even more impressive, Oscar Tshiebwe completely owned the glass for a second straight game. He followed up his 20-board performance against Duke with another 20-piece, including 10 on the offensive end.

Also worth noting, Kentucky shot 66.7 percent from the field and 52.2 percent from 3-point land as a team. Grady and Mintz were the two players carrying the outside shooting, each with four made 3-pointers and only a combined three misses between them. Inside, Daimion Collins dunked a lot in a great performance from the freshman. Collins went 7-of-8 from the field for his young career-high of 14 points. He was a highlight reel.
