Tomorrow is setting up to be a big day for the Kentucky Track & Field program. On Thursday, seven Wildcats advanced to the finals at the NCAA Championships: Abby Steiner (100 meters, 200m), Masai Russell (100m hurdles, 400H), Alexis Holmes (400m), the 4x100m relay, and 4x400m relay. Triple jumper Sophie Galloway will also compete in the finals on Saturday.

As you might expect, Abby Steiner was one of the stars on Thursday. The senior sprinter tied the NCAA Championships 200-meter record with a qualifying time of 22.05Q (+0.5) while also qualifying for the 100m final with a sub-11-second semifinal time and running a great second leg in the 4x100m relay heats. Both runs were personal bests for Steiner.

Kentucky’s 4x100m relay (Shadajah Ballard, Steiner, Russell, and Karimah Davis) had the second-fastest time of the semifinals, as did the Wildcats’ 4x400m relay (Davis, Dajour Miles, Megan Moss, and Holmes). Saturday’s 4x400m relay will feature a showdown of the two fastest collegiate 4×4 teams in history, Kentucky and Texas A&M. Masai Russell ran the third-fastest time in the semifinals of the 100m hurdles and the 400m hurdles. Alexis Holmes also advanced to the finals of the 400 meters.
