Kentucky Track & Field signs All-American Transfer
Kentucky track and field continues to dominate the headlines. When the program isn’t putting on a show with its current talent or past Wildcats aren’t shattering world records and competing in the Olympics, it is building for the future. That’s exactly what happened when head coach Lonnie Greene announced the signing of Ball State transfer and recent 2023 NCAA outdoor high jump national champion Charity Griffith.
The junior jumper out of Rushville, Indiana spent three seasons at Ball State before putting her name in the transfer portal. Now, the Wildcats have added the standout who gave the Cardinals their first national championship since 1999, blowing past her personal best and school-record high jump mark of 1.85 meters to clear 6’4”/ 1.93 meters. The rest of the competition failed to hit the 1.90-meter mark. Ball State’s previous school record was 1.87 meters.
And it wasn’t a one-time breakthrough moment for the Rushville native. It was her third top-five NCAA finish in the past 12 minutes, previously finishing fifth at last year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships and fifth again in the 2023 Indoor Championships.

Griffith is a three-time All-American, MAC Champion and Academic All-MAC selection. She was named the 2023 USTFCCCA Great Lakes Region Field Athlete of the Year just two weeks ago.
And she won’t have to wait long to make her debut in blue and white. Griffith is set to represent the Wildcats at the upcoming Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships next week from July 6-9 in Eugene, Oregon.
