Kentucky transfer guard Maddie Scherr set to transfer to TCU
On Thursday, former Kentucky guard Maddie Scherr announced on social media that she will not be returning to Kentucky. Despite her visit to Iowa being canceled, Scherr confirmed to the BBN that she would be leaving home.
Then, the only thing left was to figure out where exactly Scherr would play her final season of college basketball.
On Thursday, we got our answer as the 5-foot-11 guard announced that she would be playing for Mark Campbell and the TCU Horned Frogs next season. Campbell was an assistant/associate head coach at Oregon from 2014-2021, where Scherr spent her first two seasons at.
Scherr is the No. 20 transfer in the country, according to ESPN. She’ll be joining one of college basketball’s most recognizable players in Hailey Van Lith down in Fort Worth. Van Lith is No. 12 transfer on that same list.

In her two seasons at Kentucky, Scherr averaged 12.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.9 steals in 55 total games as a ‘Cat. This past season, she put up a career-high 12.5 points per game, starting in all 26 of her appearancess.
Unfortunately, Scherr’s two-year run in Lexington was plagued with injury and, well, losing. However, at TCU, she will have the chance to be a leader on a team that will look to compete in the new-look Big 12.
