Kentucky already has a pair of running backs committed to the class of 2023, but the coaching staff is seriously looking at the possibility of adding a third.

According to On3’s director of recruiting Chad Simmons, three-star tailback Jamarion Wilcox has locked in an official visit to Kentucky scheduled for the weekend of Sept. 24-26. The Wildcats will host Northern Illinois that Saturday at Kroger Field in what will be the fourth game of the season.

Simmons also noted that UK is “the school with the most momentum” right now for Wilcox, who attends South Paulding High School in Douglasville, GA. Wilcox clocks in at 5-foot-9, 190 pounds and is considered the No. 780 overall prospect from the ’23 class by the On3 Consensus.

Wilcox holds roughly 30 Divison I scholarship offers. On August 1, he announced official written offers from the likes of Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Troy, and Memphis. The in-state Georgia Bulldogs have yet to offer him, but Simmons noted in his article that the staff plans to watch him play in person this season. Ohio State and Clemson have also begun to reach out.

Back in mid-June, Wilcox visited Lexington for an unofficial visit, the same weekend he unofficially visited Louisville, as well. He’s being recruited by UK defensive line coach Anwar Stewart and running backs coach John Settle. Wilcox initially received his offer from the ‘Cats in May and has been hearing from the staff consistently ever since.

During South Paulding’s 2022 season opener a couple of weeks ago against Harrison, Wilcox ran 26 times for 236 yards and three touchdowns. Two of his scores came in the final six minutes of a 28-20 victory for South Paulding.

Kentucky currently has 15 hard commits for the ’23 class, including two three-star running backs Kaden Moorman (KY) and Khalifa Keith (AL).
