Kentucky will not wear throwback uniforms vs. Akron

All day, there’s been some buzz and hope that Kentucky would celebrate Commonwealth Stadium’s 50th birthday with throwback uniforms or helmets. The speculation was partly fueled by the fact that the Kentucky Football social media team didn’t reveal the uniform combination the day before, as they usually do. Well, the tweet is out, and no throwbacks. My Power-K loving heart weeps.
Instead, the Cats will wear blue tops, blue helmets, and white pants.
Oh well. As long as they get off to a fast start vs. Akron and win by a reasonable margin, who cares, right?
