As they usually do, UK came out on fire in the first set, jumping out to an 8-2 lead and doubled the Tigers up in the opening set, 25-12. Junior Alli Stumler and sophomore Ahzani Tealer each had six kills and senior setter Madison Lilley assisted on 16 of the Wildcats' 18 kills in set No. 1. [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="1200"] (UK Athletics)[/caption] Also, as they tend to do, Kentucky took their foot off the gas in the second and third set. In the second, LSU hung around, keeping the lead around five before UK finished off the Tigers with a small run to win 25-17. In the second set, Kentucky attacked at an uber-efficient .448 hitting%, and, through two sets, Lilley had assisted on 30 of UK's 34 kills. An astounding mark. Kentucky also got off to a slow-ish start in set No. 3, trading leads with LSU for the first 10 points or so, and the 'Cats only led by two midway thru the set at 15-13. Much like the second, Kentucky got hot near the end of the set and wound up beating the Tigers 25-17 yet again to secure the sweep. For the game, Stumler finished with a game-high 19 kills. Tealer added 14 and the Skinner sisters combined for 13. Madison Lilley finished with a ridiculous 43 assists out of a total of 51 kills for Kentucky. It wasn't their crispest defensive performance, but Kentucky was a machine on the attack, posting a .463 hitting% as they cruised to another SEC victory. They'll be back in action tomorrow night vs. the Tigers at 7 p.m. on the SEC Network, and we'll have you covered right here at KSR.
