LIVE: Point Kentucky previews No. 10 Pitt with special guest Azhani Tealer
Friday night, the No. 15 Kentucky Volleyball team faces No. 10 Pitt in the home opener at Rupp Arena. The match is part of the 84 Lumber Volleyball Classic, which will continue Sunday at Pitt’s Fitzgerald Field House. Craig Skinner and the Cats are challenging the Big Blue Nation to pack Rupp Arena to break the program’s attendance record, a timely effort in the wake of Nebraska Volleyball’s world record for attendance at a women’s sporting event last night.
Who better to get you ready for the big match than Hunter Mitchell, KSR’s new volleyball beat writer, and former Kentucky Volleyball great Leah Edmond? The two have teamed up to host “Point Kentucky,” KSR’s new volleyball show and podcast that debuted last week. Since then, the Cats have won a match and lost a match. Tonight, Kentucky middle blocker Azhani Tealer will join the show to recap the Cats’ season-opening loss at Colorado State and bounce-back victory at Northern Colorado and look ahead to the Panthers.
Pitt is 2-1 this season, with wins over Montana and Texas Rio Grande Valley and a loss to No. 17 BYU. The Panthers added Florida transfer Bre Kelley to their roster this season. Kelley ranked second on Florida’s roster in total blocks (124.0) and fourth in kills (203) last season.
