Five Pregame Storylines
- 36th running of the Governor’s Cup: In-state rivals Kentucky and Louisville will meet for the 36th time today. The Wildcats hold a 20-15 lead in the all-time series.
- Kentucky trying to keep its streak alive: After Louisville won five straight from 2011-2015, Kentucky snapped the streak when Lamar Jackson fumbled in 2016, then won six of seven, including the last five in a row.
- Cutter Boley: True freshman Cutter Boley is in for Brock Vandagriff as Kentucky’s starting quarterback after Boley showed potential in the second half at Texas. Boley, a Kentucky native, is the first rookie QB to ever start on the Kentucky side in the Governor’s Cup.
- Cold weather ahead: The forecast calls for cold temperatures around noon in Lexington (30-35 degrees) for the home finale. Bundle up if you’re going, and we’ll soon see how it impacts the game, if at all.
