Wednesday night’s five-set thriller at Memorial Coliseum was a record-breaker. ESPN announced the match between No. 13 Kentucky and No. 3 Louisville was the most-viewed regular season volleyball match ever on ESPN networks with 302K viewers. The fans in the stands also made waves with the seventh-largest crowd for a UK volleyball game at Memorial Coliseum.

It was just the fourth ever regular season match to air on ESPN. The Cats and the Cards provided a thriller as UK rallied in set four to force a fifth and decisive match. Ultimately, Craig Skinner’s Cats could not pull off the upset over last year’s national semifinalists. Louisville has won back-to-back over Kentucky for the first time since 2007.

Kentucky will get another crack at a 2021 Final Four team on an ESPN network this Sunday. The Wildcats will host No. 2 Nebraska at Memorial Coliseum Sunday at 3 pm on ESPN2. Like the Wildcats, the Huskers are fresh off a loss to a Top 10 team, falling to No. 9 Stanford in four sets earlier this week. It will be the Wildcats third straight matchup with a 2021 Final Four team and their fifth against a ranked foe.
