Kentucky opens as a 12-point favorite vs. Ohio

John Calipari spent a good chunk of yesterday’s press conference talking about how good tonight’s opponent, Ohio, is. The Bobcats are 3-0 with wins over Belmont, Cleveland State, and Robert Morris; made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season; and received a vote in this week’s AP Poll.
Tonight will be Kentucky’s biggest test of the seven-game homestand and that’s reflected in the spread. Kentucky opened as a 12-point favorite in Vegas. The total is 146.5 points. The Wildcats are 1-2 against the spread this season, the sole cover coming vs. Robert Morris.
Date | Opponent | Closing Line | Total | Result | ATS |
Nov. 9 | vs. Duke Blue Devils (Neutral Site) | 2.5 | 148.5 | Lost 71 – 79 | Loss / Over |
Nov. 12 | Robert Morris Colonials | -22.5 | 144.5 | Won 100 – 60 | Win / Over |
Nov. 16 | Mount Saint Marys Mountaineers | -26 | 136 | Won 80 – 55 | Loss / Under |
Ohio is 3-0 against the spread, hitting the over in two of its games. As you’ve read ad nauseam, the Bobcats are shooters, averaging 81.3 points per game, 31.3 of those coming off threes. Kentucky’s perimeter defense will be tested tonight.
What say you? Will the Cats cover?
